SDMD CALL FOR PAPER JANUARY EVERY YEAR
Social and Digital Media Discourse (SDMD), a publication of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin, Nigeria is hereby calling for high-quality, original, and strictly empirical scholarly articles for publication.
The SDMD publishes articles exploring a wide range of topics, including those at the intersection of social/digital media and digitization of communication media, journalism, broadcasting, marketing communications, corporate communication, organisational communication, political communication, development communication, interpersonal communication and other areas of social communication.
Submission Guidelines
1. Papers will be considered based on sound theoretical and methodological rigour, with apparent contribution(s) to the extant state of knowledge in the field. Where used, theories should inform methodological and analytical sections of the paper with special attention to significant contribution(s).
2. The full name of authors with their current affiliations and full address/phone number/email address should be submitted separately from the manuscript.
3. Papers to be submitted must be accompanied with an abstract of 150 – 250 words.
4.There should be 5 keywords immediately after the abstract.
5. Manuscripts must be submitted as MS Word files (2007 upward versions). Thus, texts should be in Times New Roman, in 12pt font size.
6. Texts should have double line spacing throughout the paper, except for the abstract and all indentations, which should be in single line spacing. There should be 1-inch margin on each of the four sides of the texts, while paragraph should be in block.
7. Manuscripts should not exceed 8,000 words (including texts, notes, references, tables, charts, etc.). Any submission in excess of the required words will not be considered.
8. The reference pattern should strictly follow APA referencing style (6th Edition).
9. No citation less than year 2012 should be used, except for seminal papers and formula for sample size determination.
10. Statistics and statistical analyses should be reported in line with APA guidelines.
11. Figures and tables should be placed within the text of the manuscript file, and should be properly titled and numbered in accordance with APA 6th Edition.
12. Any scanned image should be set at 1200 dpi for line art and 300 dpi for color or grayscale.
13. The paper should be structured in this order: title, abstract, introduction, review of literature, method, result, discussion, conclusion (incorporating recommendations) and references.
14. Only UK spelling is allowed, and there should be consistency in the spelling style.
15. Authors are expected to pay the sum of N7,000 as article review fee. Paper accepted would be considered for publication upon payment of N25,000 publication fee. Payment of both review and publication fees should be made to:

16. Papers are to be submitted together with the evidence of payment of assessment fee of Five Thousand Naira (5,000) only to the journal’s e-mail address: editorsdmd@unilorin.edu.ng and adisa.rm@unilorin.edu.ng
17. Manuscripts submitted for publication in the Social and Digital Media Discourse should be devoid of copyright infringement and plagiarism. Plagiarism is particularly taken seriously, and thus, all manuscripts shall be subjected to rigorous plagiarism test.
18. Authors are not expected to submit to the journal, manuscripts that have been previously submitted to any other journal for publication, except if it is submitted with a letter indicating that it has been withdrawn or it has been rejected by the previous journal.
